Several NC YMCA overnight camps are welcoming children this summer for a fun, enriching summer experience, while following all guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), NC Dept. of Health and Human Services, and their local health departments. These YMCA camps offer overnight camp this summer:

Camp staff have put numerous modifications and protocols into place to deliver a quality camp experience safely. Some of the changes include extensive staff training for cleaning, delayed openings, dining hall modifications, cabin “families” staying together for activities, social distancing procedures, staggered drop-offs and pick-ups, and more.

Not every YMCA camp in NC is able to open overnight camp this year, and that those Ys are turning their focus on day camp to support families in their community.

Wilderness and Leadership Camps
Several NC YMCA associations have shifted to offer different opportunities for campers and families this year. YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is offering the Blue Ridge Backcountry Program, a wilderness-based youth program for middle and high schoolers. Small groups will enjoy a 3-night excursion in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

YMCA of the Triangle offers S.A.I.L. Summer 2020, Sea Gull and Seafarer Adventures in Leadership, a 12-day advanced rank and leadership development program for its 2020 accepted Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) sand eligible campers aged 13-16. This video highlights the plans.

Family Camps
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is offering Family Weeks, with a taste of Blue Ridge for all ages. Families are invited to stay, enjoy the relaxing beauty of the mountains, hike the trails, and visit the nearby communities of Black Mountain and Asheville.

Embark Family Camp, offered by the Triangle’s Seafarer and Seagull, provides families with an opportunity for campers to show their entire family what they love most about camp. All activities, such as sailing, powerboating, canoeing, swimming and more, will be offered. Camp Kanata is also offering family camp options, with campfires, talent shows, singing, smores, stories and more.
